Kauai Honeymoon Part 3

Catch up on Part 1 Here and Part 2 Here

The day after our waterfall excursions we had plans to go to explore during the day and go to a local Luau that night, and that's exactly what we did. First we set out to check off one of the items on my must list, get a real hawaii acai bowl. We found a cute local shop and got some of the best bowls I have ever had. In Hawaii they tend to use bee pollen instead of honey which makes them extra tastey.
After our belly's were fully we headed to check out Waimea canyon. Which was absolutely beautiful but the drive was no fun, super long and windy which I didn't enjoy. We went up to the lookout and walked around for a bit then stopped at several scenic lookouts on the way down as well. So many pretty things to see in the area we were not disappointed.

After the canyon we headed back to the hotel to rest a bit and get ready before the Luau. We knew before the trip that a real Hawaiian Luau was high on our list of things to do and got lots of recommendations that the Smiths Family Luau was the best and most authentic on the island so we went with that one.  We absolutely loved it! We got to the huge plantation where the Luau would be held and we escorted to a small open air train that gave us a tour of the property. We were dropped back off to explore until the ceremony began. Then it was dinner time, the food was amazing, a full buffet of island favorites. We were more than stuffed by the time they came back and said we were free to get seconds, we could hardly believe it. After dinner we headed over to the amphitheater and took our seats for the show. The show consisted of dances from several different heritages and all the dancers were incredible.
The entire Luau experience was one of our favorites and were glad we can say that we have seen an authentic one at least once, I would recommend it to anyone who visits the island.

The 4th and final part of the honeymoon blog posts coming tomorrow, stay tuned!
