Burn Boutique's Very First Pop up Shop Overview & Video
Since opening my boutique I had always hoped to hold a real pop up shop by leasing out a vacant store front for the weekend and hosting my customers in a temporary store. After we moved home to New Mexico I knew this was the time to give it a try.
After we arrived I went on the hunt for a vacant space someone was willing to lease to me, some were willing, while some were not into the short term lease. I found a spot I liked it a well populated shopping center that they were willing to lease me on a temporary basis.
From there it was just a whirlwind of getting the word out to customers and locals, making sure I had everything I needed and then setting up. I had the space from Wed-Sun so I spent Wednesday & Thursday setting up and welcomed customer on Thursday evening, then again all day Friday and Saturday.
The whole experience was such a blast, I absolutely loved having the customers come to me and getting to interact and chat with them in person. Also so many people from my life stopped in to show their support and it meant the world!!
My plan was to do another pop up shortly following this one for the holiday but I realized I wasn't prepared to host another so soon. My hope is to do another in the spring, my ideal situation would be to host it the next time around with another (or several) other small businesses in my area with items that would compliment mine.
Stay Tuned to see what happens next.

Day in the Life of Running Burn Boutique Video
Below is a video from my Youtube channel that gives a brief overview into what it is like running my online store, Burn Boutique. This footage is a bit old from a sale I had earlier in the year. I took this footage then, edited the video then never posted it because I didn't like how many times I said umm and its tough to listen to yourself talk. However one random day a few weeks later I just felt like I might as well just go for it.
Please let me know what you think below and if you have any questions you would like me to address in a future video or in the comments :)

Leopard Cardi OOTD- I Cant Adult Today
Well our long weekend getaway has officially ended, it is now Monday and I certainty don't feel like I can adult today. To bad I will have to anyway, I am currently making a 3 hour drive to the middle of no where Texas for a work meeting. However if it was optional and I could wear casual attire to my appointments then perhaps I would be wearing today's outfit.
Todays outfit features the new Leopard Cardi from Burn Boutique, one of my favorite new pieces. Todays look styles the cardigan in a very casual manner that is perfect for fall transition weather. However of course once fall hits this sweater will be perfect to wear with boots as well.

Burn Boutique 6 Months & Maxi and Denium OOTD
I can actually hardly believe my little business turned 6 months old today! It feels like last week that I turned over the website I had been working so hard to put together and been dreaming about for years from protected to live. I sat there nervous waiting to see what my friends, family and strangers thought of the site and the clothes I picked out. The first few days were a huge excitement watching it all unfold and seeing the orders roll in. The stores first couple weeks were actually a few of the best for sales to date, which is exactly what I had hoped and expected but with time we are going to beat those sales ten times over.
Since then the last six months have been a great adventure and I can not wait to see what the next six will bring us. Right now it is Fall buying season and I have never been so excited to make purchases for the store. First fall is my favorite season but Fall/Winter are also my favorite season for clothes. I have already started compiling tons of items I would like to stock for both seasons, I truly know it will be the best inventory we've held yet and I cant wait for everyone to see. However it is not making my frustration with the Texas heat any easier, knowing this state basically skips over fall and it will likely remain hot here for several more months.
Last month we attended our first vendor show, you can watch a little bit of footage here. Although it wasn't as great as we had hoped it would be it was still a big learning experience that we hope will help us in the future. We actually already have our next show on the books for October at a large local event in Rockwall and we can not wait.
Right now the store is currently having a summer clearance event to make room for that much more fall and fall transition items on the shelves. I blasted out that sale before realizing this milestone would fall right in the middle of it so I think that calls for an even bigger and better sale for today only!!
Happy 6 Months Burn Boutique, thank you for all the fun!!
Also I never posted the photos and outfit details to here for the third outfit from our shoot with Beckley photography so they will be below. You can see outfits one here and two here. So now onto number three featuring The Everyday Maxi from the store styled a little differently.

Burn Boutique- 3 Months Later
Well almost three months ago I took a leap of faith to follow a dream of mine, a dream of opening my own clothing boutique, Burn Boutique. Three months later I am here to say many things: I'm so happy I did it, I find so much joy in the store, I still have so much to learn, its a new challenge everyday, and I am so hopeful to keep this going long term.
Last night I had dinner with my friend Lea, and we talked and talked for hours about life, dreams, endeavors, blogging and the store. She recently started a great fashion blog, so go check it out. You may even notice a familiar item in one of her posts. Anyway our conversation got on the topic about how when you're doing something you are truly passionate about doesn't feel like work, even if it is. That's how I feel about running the store. The week the store launched I was overflowing with pride as each order came in, of course I had the highest of hopes for the store but I was still surprised and delighted to see it do well. Three months later, I still get giddy each time the notification goes off for a new order. As you know I still work a full time job, one that can have crazy schedules and has me traveling a lot. Which means I run the boutique in the after hours... aka nights and weekends. However I don't mind it one bit, I enjoy packing orders after work and spending weekends taking photos or working on the website. I don't mind it because I truly enjoy it and it doesn't feel like work, I don't mind giving up my time on the weekends to "work" on the store, but I sure do feel bent out of shape when my real job has me working on the weekend. All this to say I am so glad I found something I enjoy even if it isn't my "job" right now.
While I love running the store and I am so happy with everything I have accomplished so far I still have so much to learn and my wheels are constantly turning trying to figure out new ways to market the store and get the word out. Right now I am turning my focus to getting in front of the customers... quite literally! I have started compiling a list of vendor markets, festivals, and tradeshows that I can attend over the coming months. It is my hope to attend a couple of these events over the summer so stay tuned you may be able to come shop at an event near you!!
Its actually hard for me to believe I have barely hit the three month mark with the store because I feel like so much has happened in such a small time period. But I'm excited for everything that has happened so far and everything to come! I am excited for a new season of clothing and to see what summer can bring, I cant wait to check back in again in a couple of months and see what else has changed!

Burn Boutique
**Lets start off by saying this post is long overdue, many reading this will be thinking this is old news. I cant believe I didn't schedule this blog post out ahead of time like I had every intention of doing. **
For many years it has been a dream of mine to own a clothing boutique. I always assumed this would not be something I could do until much later in life. However for the past several years I have been buying the majority of my clothes at online boutiques. It quickly became clear to me that this was they way I needed to accomplish this goal and it would allow me to do it much sooner. So a couple weeks ago I launched my own online clothing boutique, Burn Boutique . Today I am going to do an overview of the launch process and how I got it all started.
Again this is something I had been dropping hints and talking to my husband about for a couple years, it had been in my head much longer. But at the end of 2015 I talked to him about finally taking that leap to get it started at the beginning of 2016 and he agreed. I based this around the market buying schedule, knowing there would be an apparel buying market in Dallas at the end of January.
So after the holidays, once January 1st came around I started all the preparations to get the store going. I got the proper permits and license, picked a website host, got shipping supplies, etc. Then at the end of January it was time to shop for the actual clothing. My sister and I attended the Dallas Apparel Market together to buy all the merchandise. You can view our short vlog on shopping market below.
The first time shopping at market was super overwhelming. So overwhelming we actually found it tough to find enough things we wanted to buy, which was the opposite of my concerns going into it. After about 8 hours of shopping the first day our feet hurt so bad and we were so tired we knew we needed to call it a day. I went back the next day myself and purchased several more items. The final few items I purchased from the vendors websites. I am hopeful that next market trip will be a little easier.
About a week after market all the clothes I ordered began to arrive. Once everything was in I added them to the website and set up a photo shoot with Lindsey Davenport Photography. Lindsey is now a local Dallas photographer but I met her back in New Mexico when she photographed my best friends wedding. Our photo shoot went so well, Lindsey is such a joy to work with. We shot the pictures in downtown McKinney which was so fun it has the cutest atmosphere. At the time of the photo shoot I had everything else all set for launch all I needed was the photos back, to drop them in the website and we were ready to go. So a couple days later when Lindsey sent them to me it was go time.
I launched the store on a Thursday and that weekend I was blown away by the sales that came in. A couple days before launch I posted a picture on instagram of our custom New Mexico Love shirts, there was so much excitement on social media about the shirts that by the time we launched they sold out in a couple of hours. (We ordered the second batch on day 2) That alone was such a blessing and better then I could have even imagined. The last couple weeks for the store have been great and I cant wait to see what many more will bring.
I feel so grateful and happy actually going after my dreams and seeing them unfold in front of me, I cant wait to see what weeks, months, and years of more hard work will bring. Right now I am still working at my job full time while I see where this takes me, it is not my plan to quit anytime soon.
I will be sure do more updates on the store and possibly a Q&A for those interested since I have gotten alot of questions.
