Wedding Photos: First Look

During the wedding planning process Evan and I went back and forth about whether or not we wanted to do first look photographs. Only because we couldn't decide if seeing each other the first time at the ceremony was more important. However we ultimately decided it was something we wanted and it was one of the best decisions we made for several reasons:

1.  The first time we got to see each other on our wedding day we were alone (minus photographers of course) not in front of every one of our guests, we got to take it all in together, talk, hug, laugh and share our excitement for the day together
2. We got more pictures of the two of us this way, we got all of the below first look pictures on top of the portraits we took after the ceremony
3. We got to take care of all of our wedding party photos before the ceremony as well. This allowed the timeline of the day to work much better and also allowed the wedding party to go attend cocktail hour with the rest of the guests. The only group photos we had to take after the ceremony were family photos.
As a special added bonus I ended up getting to do a first look with my father as well. It wasnt necessary planned for it to be on film but I am so glad it was. When I picked out my wedding dress my dad quickly told me that he didnt want to see any pictures he wanted the first time he saw it to be on my wedding day so I did just that. Right after our first look someone told me my dad had arrived and I said well I better go see him now then and the photographers quickly jumped into action and set up a mini first look for us, it was such a special moment.
