Moving From Dallas to New Mexico

In early Fall of 2017 we got some big, exciting, yet unexpected news. It was news that would flip our life completely upside and change everything. However it was news we welcomed and took on. That news was that Evan had been offered a job back home in New Mexico which would of course require us to leave our life in Dallas and move across state lines. After lots of consideration we decided to go for it and move closer to our family and friends.

After 5 years in Dallas this was quite the big change we were about to make. We were excited to move but a lot had to been done for this to work. We had to put our first home on the market, get it sold then find a place to live in New Mexico. Admittedly this was where the stress came in for us, the process of buying and selling houses is anything but fun. However we were incredibly blessed to accept an offer on our home after it had only been on the market a couple weeks, our neighborhood was luckily one people really wanted to live in and houses went fast.

After happily accepting an offer on our Dallas home, getting though inspections and negotiations we made a trip to New Mexico to look at homes to possibly buy. We agreed if this just wasn't the time to buy then we would move forward with renting but needed to take a look. In one Saturday we looked at 11 homes all over the city, and to be honest none of them really sucked and were instant no's. However there was one that stuck out from the beginning, one I had loved from the time I saw it online. The reason we loved this house over the others was because of the house itself of course, but also because of the neighborhood which is ultimately how made our decision. By Sunday we had our own offer in on that home, and early in the week we heard that it was accepted and this little home could soon be ours.

The logistics of two people with full time jobs and a home you were in the process of selling certainly made things complicated. Evans company asked if he could start at the beginning of September (rather than October our original plan) and they would fly him to and from Dallas each week during that time. Meanwhile I was in Dallas by myself continuing to work my job in medical sales and packing up our home and life. At the beginning of October is when I officially gave my notice at work and we moved out and headed for New Mexico.

We spent the first couple weeks here staying with family while we waited to close on our new home. Soon enough that day came and we got to move into our new house. Since then it has been a whirlwind of unpacking, working on our new house and getting used to our new life and city.

Stay tuned for future posts about our new home!
